group coaching vs. 1:1
ARE YOU READY TO SCALE?
Which business model is the right one for you? Is it 1:1 or is it group coaching?
Honestly, it depends on your goals.
If you are anything like me, you want to grow your business as an online coach. You are always looking to learn, expand or implement different things that will allow you to scale where you are right now.
I get it - it has been my obsession for years - and my focus on this has allowed me to grow quite a bit in my business. Case in point, over the last 3 years, we've generated over $1,000,000 in my business thanks to some amazing business productivity.
Which is why, I want to direct you to understand what you need to know about scaling or growing your online coaching business and what business model you need to be focusing on right now, you should be implementing IT on your business.
I break down some of these aspects in much more detail and depth in my free masterclass which you can sign up for right over here.
A LOT of coaches are being sold on the business model of: Build a group coaching program or course, automate it and go to the beach in Bali working only 2 hours a week.
The truth is that this model works great if you have a proven system that will allow your clients to get results, with it - you can focus on client success and growth.
BUT - when you are on the newer side of coaching - I believe it is smarter to begin with 1:1 first.
Let’s break down what I mean with NEWER at coaching (because I think this distinction is important to make):
- You have expertise in the area of your business
You have worked with some clients in the past - You have certifications or degrees that backup your expertise
- You DO NOT have a system that consistently gets you clients
- You don’t necessarily have a framework you have created
- You’ve had less than a handful of clients go through YOUR unique framework (if you have one)
- You don’t have lead generation coming on on autopilot
If these sound like you - I believe it becomes hard to launch a group program (not impossible - but just much more of an uphill battle).
The truth is that you need to be prepared to scale your business before you get there.
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
When I launched my business online in 2016, I went with 1:1 first - because I didn’t feel I had the confidence to conduct group coaching calls (or the content that would be good enough)
I got phenomenal results for my clients, increased my confidence in the process AND learned about what people needed to learn from me
I also go GREAT at client acquisition.
And once I was at a point where I was enrolling 2-3 clients every month to my 1:1 and generating over $20,000 per month - that’s when I felt ready to launch my group program (I’m not saying you have to wait until this - I’m just telling you my experience)
In 2018 I launched Breakthrough Brand - my 8 Week program focused on helping coaches create a premium brand message that attracts high-end clients so that they can generate over $10,000 a month in their business.
Since then, I’ve had hundreds of clients go through both my 1:1 AND group - and they only get better and better results - because my program and my coaching keeps improving over the years.
I’ve been able to generate over $1,000,000 in the last 3 years with just TWO offers.
I talked a bit more about what you need to consistently attract clients right over here.
WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE?
I think that a group program is a great choice when you are ready for it - otherwise, you can burn yourself out too soon (which obviously NO ONE WANTS!)
You are shooting yourself in the foot when you are launching a program where no one enrolls, people don’t get results and you aren’t certain about what you teach.
Instead - starting with 1:1 can allow you to refine your process, get better at lead generation, improve your message and get your clients better results.
A group program is a perfect choice when you have the experience and you have a mechanism or marketing plan that is created to bring you clients consistently. After all, no one wants a group program with only 1 student in there!
Whichever you choose, I suggest you get honest about where you are right now and what will work best for you.
